Charlie’s research focuses on establishing how past populations utilised plants through the analysis of microremains preserved in human dental calculus and archaeological sediments. He is particularly interested in exploring the persistence of wild plant use and ‘neglected’ species amongst food producers.

After completing his PhD at the University of Queensland, Australia, Charlie joined the ARCAN laboratory as a postdoctoral researcher studying plant use and diet amongst early alpine agropastoral societies in the Valais region of Western Switzerland as part of the SNSF project (https://data.snf.ch/grants/grant/205059).
